I guess comparing fibre internet with traditional copper-based internet is like driving a car onto a six-lane super highway from an old country road: Things suddenly get a whole lot faster. UFB, or ultra fast broadband, is being slowly rolled out across New Zealand and the Government hopes that by 2020 75 per cent of New Zealanders will be connected to it. The Government is dropping $1.35 billion to get it up and running. I've noticed a lot of new subdivisions in Christchurch are fibre-ready but I've been lucky enough to be have been trialling Orcon's UFB for the past couple of months...
